Value and Light
A short course on value and light in drawing and painting.
How light and dark build form in drawing and painting: the value scale, what one light does to a solid, kinds of light, edges, the great styles of light and shade, and ways to work in value. Concept pages explain one idea, mostly with plates from two old public-domain drawing books (Mary Merrifield, 1880; Anson Cross, 1897); example pages show it in a public-domain work.
