Radial Balance

In radial balance, parts spread out from a central point, like spokes from a hub.

Dow's four two-value wheels keep one hub and vary the spokes and rings. Poore counted the circle and radiating lines among his basic forms.

  • The parts around the center are often alike.
  • A round format suits it, but a round picture need not be radial.
  • Look for it in rose windows, wheels and mandalas.
